Ask the Patient:

• How long have symptoms lasted?
• Is there fever? (How high?)
• Dry or wet cough?
• Any chest pain or difficulty breathing?
• Age of patient?
• Any chronic illness (asthma, diabetes, hypertension)?

Management:

🟢 Mild Cold (Runny nose, sneezing, mild cough, no high fever)

Recommend:

• Paracetamol for fever/pain
• Antihistamine (e.g., loratadine)
• Vitamin C
• Zinc
• Warm fluids

🟢 Dry Cough

• Dextromethorphan syrup
• Honey (for adults & children >1 year)

🟢 Wet/Productive Cough

• Expectorant (e.g., guaifenesin)
• Ambroxol or bromhexine

Offer Vitamins:

• Vitamin C
• Zinc
• Multivitamin

🚨 REFER TO HOSPITAL IF:

• Fever > 3 days
• Difficulty breathing
• Chest pain
• Cough > 2 weeks
• Blood in sputum
• Child under 2 months
